Production and consumption of free-range eggs are rising in response. However, considerations have been given to banning the dominant conventional cage production as in Switzerland. Consideration has also been given to compulsory labelling eggs by their form of production. A focus of the research is to develop possible future scenarios and to value any associated animal welfare benefits against the cost of changes. The extent of market failures such as negative externalities from the consumption of conventional cage eggs will be an important aspect of the analysis. Keywords: Industrial; Organization (search for similar items in EconPapers)Pages: 28Date: 2001-01References: View references in EconPapers View complete reference list from CitEc Citations: Track citations by RSS feedDownloads: (external link) (application/pdf)Related works:This item may be available elsewhere in EconPapers: Search for items with the same title.Export reference: BibTeX RIS (EndNote, ProCite, RefMan) HTML/TextPersistent link: :ags:aare01:125981DOI: 10.22004/ag.econ.125981Access Statistics for this paperMore papers in 2001 Conference (45th), January 23-25, 2001, Adelaide, Australia from Australian Agricultural and Resource Economics Society Contact information at EDIRC.Bibliographic data for series maintained by AgEcon Search (Obfuscate( 'umn.edu', 'aesearch' )). var addthis_config = "data_track_clickback":true; var addthis_share = url:" :ags:aare01:125981"Share This site is part of RePEc and all the data displayed here is part of the RePEc data set.
